This is nice. Really just, nice. Would ha have gotten this sort of opportunity back in their own world? Elec thinks... probably not. While he misses his home certainly, there's a sense of freedom here, of opportunity that he just can't help but want to grab.
He laughs softly and strokes Snake's helm.
"I don't know... I guess I wouldn't mind if you tackled me once in a while," he teases, "In the right sort of situation."
Snake turns, its much easier without shoulder pads. Taking to shedding them and leaving those in Gemini's room to let him know where he's gone. He reaches a hand up and touches Elec's face. Softness, tender. He looks up at Elec with adoring optics. Even the helmet seems to look with adoration.
"I should figure out those ideal situations then. Until those are figured I do not mind this in its place. You look so wonderful against the light here."
"Both are nice, for different reasons I think," he quicks and eyebrow, cupping his hand over the one touching his face, holding it there. He's not lying. Especially after the recent bursts of 'research' in the library he can think of a few ways getting tackled would be rather nice.
"I know you weren't gone long, but I worried about you," he rubs his thumb over Snake's hand and slowly brings it over to hips lips so he can press a soft kiss to his knuckles, "Synth was good company though. I taught him a little dance."
"I don't promise not to leave again, but perhaps I will give you better warning before I go next time." Snake's face tints a soft colour watching Elec's gentleness. The fingers touch along Elec's lips in curious display, then moves slowly to softly pinch his chin to lock eyes with him.
"I'm sorry I worried you. I only wanted to find some way to thank the ship for its efforts with Quick. And in turn I also saved lives. It... it was a different experience then I expected." Snake says with a question on his voice.
"Is this what it is like to be 'the good guy?" He looks at Elec, curious up at him. Another question, this one unspoken... as if to say... if he deserved such a redemption.
"Good guys, bad guys. I don't know if it's that simple," Elec replies after a moment's hesitation as he tried to find the words. It's a hard concept, touching on things that he'd been struggling.
"I'm a 'good guy' because of the orders I was programmed to follow. You're a 'bad guy' guy because of the orders you were programmed to follow," it always comes down to those constraints. No matter how they feel about it the rules set out for them by their creators are the absolute. He looks down, meeting Snake's gaze and gives him a warm reassuring smile.
"But here, those orders aren't as solid. More and more choices appear. It's thrilling," he laughs softly a little, "Whether it was 'good' or not, you made the choice to go and help people. You and you alone. I think maybe... that's why it feels particularly special."
"In such a case. I suppose then, I like it. I like that I helped, even if I was mocking and rude." He giggles and though curiously he turns back to hide his face turned back to his partner's abdomen, unable to truly hide with such a duel face he wielded.
But there is a smile there, such a conflicted smile. Full of bafflement and yet... he seems content with Elec's answer and wraps an arm around him, while the tail of his helmet follows with.
"I like it too," he agrees. It's not quite there yet... but everyday he's faces it seems with new choices and new decisions. Back home he'd have to defer to Doctor Light to make some of them, most of them really. But here there is no Doctor Light. Here he gets to make them for him and him alone. Part of it is illusion, he knows that. The second one of the few humans here decides to give him a command or tries something worse he'll...
Ah well, he'll figure that out eventually.
"Mocking and rude?" he pauses in his petting of Snake's helmet to give him a light knock instead, "I'll never tell you not to be you but I really hope you didn't make a, you know, dangerous enemy or anything?"
The donk on his head makes him giggle as he sticks his serpent's tongue out while he lifts his grin from hiding. "I did nothing too horrible, I tried to relate to the Beastformers but it seems my words came about callus and forked. And it was as though I couldn't stop!" Snake laughs, and then goes quiet a moment.
"I was lucky Wheeljack was there, or the one named Sixshot would have... well, it didn't happen. And I've kept my distance. And saved more lives than made enemies. I do not think the wolf holds a grudge in any case."
For a brief moment, Elec would feel those fingers curl into his back as if seeking a hidden comfort. But he refused to show it on his face.
He feels that, and he can feel the tenseness of his EM field. The mission rattled him probably more then he lets on. He sighs softly.
"Snake... Come up here," he draws the other Robot Master up so he can properly embrace him, hold him tight, "We're all weird and inexperienced and twisted and strange."
He holds him like he can keep him safe from everything. He can't. But he can so his best.
"We're still learning how to be people," he thinks he's never felt so sincere, "We're going to stumble and make mistakes and sometimes it'll feel awkward or not right..." He laughs a little, "But I guess we have to just push buttons to figure out which buttons shouldn't be pressed."
As he lifts up to be held Snake does grip again into his back, setting his helmet's bottom jaw above his shoulder. Ever so careful, remembering the thrill and joy of that first moment with him, biting down. Nearly ruining it all if not thanks to Gemini's smoothing it over.
The fact that also was a moment of him learning. Adapting.
"Yes... Yess that makes much sense." Snake says slowly. Then slowly again, nervous but... "Did you know we have souls?" his voice is happy and wavers with more uncertainty.
"Did you know, for that brief mission I saw mine? She was beautiful, a hognose. Skittish, nervous, doubtful and cautious. So exposed to the world... But she was real." Snake clings all the more. "We have souls..."
so i thought i responded to this a million years ago...
This is nice. Elec sighs happily, relishing in the closeness. Every day brings new things, new excitements and adventures and new dangers as well. Would he have ever experienced things back home? Unlikely. Here he can delight in at least a very good illusion of true freedom.
And speaking of new?
"Souls?" he asks, light frown. That's not the sort of thing he'd been expecting to hear of Snake's mission. New things though, he keeps an open mind "What do you mean you saw yours?"
"The device we were given to take on the Chalian disguises pushed them out of hiding and put them into a physical animal form!" Snake stretches his coiling form around him. "She looked like a hognose and was very skittish. She didn't like being out of hiding, I can not explain more in a way that makes sense..."
Snake looks up at him. "She is she, and I am he. Some how we are the exact same, isn't that fascinating!"
Snake giggles in a hiss. He puts a hand up on Elec's chest as he turns a little more on his lap. "I bet yours would be just as wonderful. Handsome and sparking with life."
"I think I understand one of my siblings a little more now... I had assumed there was perhaps souls, but I had thought it may of only been him to be so..." lucky? Snake hums and shrugs still with that hand over elec's chest.
Sliding it up to his face and lays there. "I wonder if its an accident... A beautiful accident of life."
It's still a bit hard follow. The soul part he finds himself not terribly bent up over... it's more then it manifesting in the physical form of a hognose snake that he's having a little difficulty getting over. It's odd, but Snake is just so earnest...
"I don't think I've every thought of it as 'soul'. It feels so distinctly human I never thought to call it that," his optics slide shut and he leans his cheek against Snake's palm. His synthetic skin is faintly staticky to the touch, "I can sense our EM fields, well we all can to a certain degree, but I'm particularly well tuned to it. It doesn't stay the same. There's the obvious growing more intense as weapons charge up, or fainter when low on power... but it's more then that. There's fluctuations, sometimes with mood, sometimes just because. It's like a constantly changing pulse."
His eyes are closed but Snake's field is mellow when he concentrates, but there a healthy buzz of what he can only assume is the wonder of it all.
"Maybe it is an accident. There's nothing in our codes that dictate that. Microwaves don't feel like we do," he laughs a little and opens his eyes, "Don't think I mind an accident like that."
